Colours

Standard colours for HydroSTON 50 (pedestrian only) pavers and HydroSTON 80 (vehicle) pavers are Natural (light grey) and Charcoal *.

* Standard HydroSTON Charcoal currently manufactured with grey cement and F9550 Supreme Black at 3%.

HydroSTON 50 Flag and Block pavers can be manufactured in a range of colours. Colours may be selected from Cathay Industries’ FERROTINT and COLOURMIX website charts.

FERROTINT colours include Outback Red, used with grey cement in the custom manufacture of HydroSTON 50 pavers.

HydroSTON paver colours can be varied by reducing or increasing oxide:cement ratios and using grey or offwhite cement. The majority of HydroSTON cores shown in the palette below were prepared with grey cement at an oxide:cement ratio of 3%.

Joint Filler

HydroSTON 80 vehicle pavements need to be installed with average 4mm gaps between pavers to ensure lock up of the pavement and provide flexibility of movement of individual pavers. Joints should be filled and compacted with minimal fines 1-3mm crushed rock.

Specially graded joint filler is available from HydroCon in 20 kg or 1 tonne bulk bags. HydroCon Joint Filler can also be used for filling gaps and finishing off HydroSTON 50 pedestrian pavments.

The photos here show HydroSTON 50 installed in a corporate entertainment area to provide a firm, free draining surface. An added advantage of HydroSTON is its high slip resistance under both dry and wet conditions.

Due to the high permeability of HydroSTON, a well constructed substucture and regular maintenance by College ground staff, the carpark is performing exceptionally well.
