Australian climate conditions have increased awareness and use of stormwater as an alternative to publicly treated and supplied water (mains water) for purposes other than drinking water (‘potable’ water). Stormwater, if captured, managed and stored close to the point of runoff i.e. ‘at source’, can substantially contribute to urban water security.

HydroCon permeable pipe or HydroSTON permeable pavement systems provide cost effective and practical means for harvesting, treating, and temporarily storing stormwater for non-potable use. Systems are easy to instal and maintain, and have low life cycle costs.

HydroCon pipe systems are being used to harvest stormwater at: Hindmarsh Park, Kiama; Ashgrove Estate, Regents Park; and at Powells Creek Reserve Concord West.

HydroSTON is being used to offtake low flows from Bronte Gully, providing ample supply of non-potable water for irrigation of Bronte Park and replacement of mains water in public amenities and park maintenance.
