APPLICATIONS – INFILTRATION

Infiltration provides many environmental and economic benefits, including reduced peak stormwater flows, less downstream flooding and decreased stormwater drainage capital costs, as well as providing improved groundwater recharge and better stormwater quality.
HydroSTON pavers are categorised as ‘free draining’ under AS 4456.16 – HydroSTON pavements have very high permeability rates due to a 100% permeable surface area. Overall performance of HydroSTON pavements depends not only on the infiltration capacity of pavers but also on pavement substructure (and subgrade in the case of infiltration applications).
HydroCon pipe systems and HydroSTON pavers facilitate infiltration of stormwater run-off in urban areas and offer a sustainable alternative to traditional drainage systems, while assisting the urban water cycle to return to a pre-urbanised state.
HydroCon pipes are known as infiltration, exfiltration or seepage pipes. Their pervious/porous walls allow stormwater to percolate into the surrounding soil. Pipes can be installed in a similar fashion to retention trenches. The pipe is surrounded by sand or gravel in a trench and covered with sand or loam.
